Creating in the Chapel

A big thank you to all of the children and adults who joined us at the Dissenters' Chapel in the Sutton Road Cemetery for our family art sessions with our wonderful local artist Ali Ward. Or as we will now be calling them thanks to the fabulous Daisy - the Chapel Workshops.

The Chapel Workshops took place on Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th May where children from Southend schools worked in small groups to create fun sculptural shapes by wrapping recycled materials in fabric and thread.

Everyone, both young and old, took part in creating some wonderful sculptures that will be joined by Ali to make a large community artwork which will be exhibited later in the year in a tribute to the American Fibre Artist Judith Scott.

The sessions were open to people of all abilities and with extra support for children with SEN and we worked on a stay as long as you like basis - and most people wanted to stay longer! Many thanks to our volunteers and helpers for making the Chapel Workshops great family days out. Below are some of the images taken on the day...
